The Whanganui District library, located in Queens Park, is the main community library in Whanganui. As well as the main library there are several other libraries in the region. See the map below for their locations. The Whanganui Library offers free wifi, great coffee with a selection of yummy biscuits, toilets, and free internet access through the Aotearoa People’s Network.

• The Whanganui District Library at Queens Park. Opening hours: Mon,  Fri – 09:30am – 6:00pm; Saturday – 10:00am – 5:00pm; Sunday – 10:00am – 3:00pm. Phone +64 6 349 1000.
• The Alexander Heritage and Research Library (where the nationally-renowned Wanganui Collection is housed, along with the Lovegrove Military Archive) – located in Queens Park. Opening hours: Mon – Fri – 1:00 – 5:00 pm. Closed Saturday and Sunday.

The Mobile Library, serving schools, rest homes, suburban and rural communities is on the road for more than 40 hours weekly, with more than 30 scheduled stops.
